Save Your Gas
FOOD – I always try to use as little gas, propane, electric as possible. The more efficient our processes are, the less resources we use. One of the products we use is a pressure cooker for cooking beans, rice, etc. to get it cooked with as little propane as possible. This article was right up my alley.  Forget Boiling! Use Less Salt! Plus More Tips for Better, Easier Pasta  …all that is purely academic once you realize that you don’t even have to boil pasta to cook it. Put your pasta in cold water, bring it to a boil, then cover the pot and turn off the heat. Your cooking time will remain the same and you’ll save yourself (and the environment) the energy bill.

Fresh Ginger Syrup – David LebovitzBarsotti's Lemonade
I use ginger syrup in a  variation of the Moscow Mule. It is great with Barsotti’s Lemonade. This ginger syrup is easy to make at home and lasts a long time. I don’t use a copper mug, either, mostly ’cause I ain’t from Moscow… I got the recipe from the David Lebovitz website. If you are not familiar with his site you should check it out. He tells a funny tale about Le Gastro.
